Tutorial 1 Staining a symbol The symbol sprayer tool is great for spraying symbols and one of the tools is 'symbol stainer', staining the symbols with the current fill. The symbol stainer can also be applied to a symbol simply dragged from the symbol palette. Drag a symbol from the palette, set the fill color to blue, select the symbol, select the symbol sprayer tool > symbol stainer and apply to the current selected symbol
Tutorial 2 Coloring a symbol Another way to color a symbol is to use the appearance palette. Drag a symbol from the symbols palette and then go to the appearance palette. Add a new fill and select a color such as green. Instant re-coloring of the symbol. The symbol can also then have additional effects or appearance added such as a new stroke. The stroke can be colored and set to a certain stroke weight. The stroke also can have effects (as can the fill) such as an extrude bevel effect. The stroke is moved beneath the fill so as to appear beind the fill color symbol
