Additional notes Gradient mesh Plug-in manipulates Illustrator gradient mesh paths or envelope meshes in 100s of different ways. Apply to a mesh with 3 x 3 mesh or a 20 x 20 mesh and many more points.
Options Packed with 10s of great easy to use options to tweak the gradient mesh in many ways in Illustrator ®
Different designs Create many different colorful mesh designs such as crackling gradient mesh effects, multi colored meshes, ribbon meshes, painted meshes, radial gradient meshes, checkerboard meshes, diagonal gradient meshes, frame meshes, lined meshes, gradient / flowing meshes, patchy meshes, block meshes, abstract art meshes and more. Plug-in includes many different color settings to create wow red / blue / green meshes and more as well as subtle color changes.
Single or multiple meshes Use on a single or multiple mesh paths. Combine multiple meshes using blending modes
Random color / negative / grayscale Use to create wow colorful random color filled meshes in Illustrator ®. The mesh can also invert the color mesh or apply the mesh color changes as grayscale or accumulate color changes from node to node to create surreal and abstract landscape effects. The color can also be wrapped around or set to RGB color limits.
Start point Select a path or image or symbol and apply an envelope using the mesh method and then use the mesh plugin
Warp and mesh plug-in Use the mesh plug-in to create billions of different and unique distortion effects. The plug-in modifies the color of the mesh as well as the node positions. Simply select an envelope mesh and then apply the plug-in to create rough meshes effects, bloated mesh effects, punked mesh effects, extreme warp effects, rippled mesh effects, distress mesh effects and more. As the envelope mesh can be applied to images, symbols, text and much more; use the distortions to create unique text effects in seconds such as scratched and scarred text and more
Gradient mesh command Gradient mesh is created via the object menu and create gradient mesh command (in Illustrator) or the gradient mesh tool (via toolbox). Once created, the mesh plugin can be used to create stunning mesh effects that would be very tricky to create by hand such as dot effects and line effects and more, and the mesh plugin does it with the ability to change and change and change .. until the mesh is exactly right.
Paths Gradient Meshes can be basic paths such as a star or multiple stars or circles or other path shapes.
Converted text and mesh plug-in Gradient meshes can be used in converted text (though you have to release compound before use..)
Images Place an image and then use the create gradient mesh on the image. Use the mesh plugin then to distort / apply wave / jitter nodes / apply different color effects to create stunning painted imagery in Illustrator ®
Isolate nodes The plug-in can be applied to all mesh nodes or you can simply work on a particular node. Work on each node in turn to create subtle changes instead of global changes to a mesh.
Opacity and blending modes The plug-in can randomize the opacity and blending mode of the paths. Overlap multiple mesh paths and apply mesh effects to all the paths. Use to create unique color as well as warped mesh effects. One mesh can be set to normal blending mode, the other to difference or darken and combining different randomized color designs or perhaps grid or line designs, truly awesome color designs can be generated. Use the opacity randomization to create subtle painted designs combining multiple meshes.
Tutorials Tutorial 1]Initial mesh setup > ripple 1) Select a basic path such as a fish shape 2) Object command > Create gradient mesh. Set rows and columns, say 12 x 12 3) Set the red and green and blue color values in the first dialog to 100 123 200. The color setting is 'horizontal lines', the color is added to the alternate lines of the current selected mesh; the other lines are untouched and remain the earlier red. Pink mesh lines are displayed on the 'fish'. 4) Go to the points dialog (dialog 2) of the mesh plug-in. Set the jitter of the point's position to be applied only in the vertical: set the horizontal to 0 and vertical to 34. Leave the apply mode as 'basic jitter' (many other options such as accumulate or shift are available) and set the pattern to apply to 'pattern 5'. The pattern mode offers a number of variant shift / jitter applies. The 'fish' now has most of its nodes jittered up or down creating a rippled fish look.
If the path had no mesh, the mesh plug-in would be grayed out and not accessible. The plug-in can be applied to a single mesh or multiple meshes or warp meshes. If other paths are selected along with the mesh, the basic non-mesh paths are ignored.
Tutorial 2 ]Applying mesh effects to text 1) Select text and go to the object menu > envelope distort > make with mesh option 2) Set the mesh (4 x 4 etc or more) 3) Keep mesh and text selected and go to the mesh plug-in. Go to the second dialog and set the jitter settings and pattern and jitter type. Set the mesh type to basic jitter, pattern 5 + jitter setting 56 and 96. The nodes are now jittered from their original positions by random amount up to 56 in the horizontal and 96 points in the vertical. The underlying text is then warped according the warp mesh creating a weird ripple effect for the text. Click the shuffle button to randomize the jitter applied to each node; one node will be moved by 5 points and another by 20 points and so on. 4) End result. The warp mesh is still active. If you wish to remove the warp mesh and leave the warped text effect, go to the object > envelope distort menu and expand. The text will now be a path and will not be editable.
The color settings for the warp mesh have no effect. The points / nodes part of the dialog is central to the warp mesh; scaling etc can be applied.
If you wish to re-edit the text, do not expand the contents; use the edit content command (distort menu) to modify the text. The unexpanded (and editable warp mesh text) can also be added to the symbols palette at any point in the creative process with different text (all using the same warped mesh) |
