Gridlock plugin creates grids (a wide variety of grid designs), the plugin needs a path to be selected before use to define the size of the grid.

The LineUp plugin can be used as is, but if you wish to use the swatches feature, it might require some initial setup to get the best color scheme

3) Plug-in Random Colors:
Plugin to randomize colors of selected paths and designs in 100s of different ways. Use to create subtle color variance or extreme color change. 
The random colors and negative colors plugin require a path or paths to be selected (for photos, you will need to use live trace and expand and then apply the plugins).
The color mode must match the color mode of the paths, so RGB filled paths can only be randomized in RGB documents. The color options can be used to the fill or the stroke.
The other two plugins, spiral and sharp edge work as is and require no path selected.
The random color plug-in comes with many variant random color options to create subtle or truly extreme color changes.
