Example below shows the connection tool + generation of square / random sized designs at each node point. The plug-in can be changed to create these as colorful squares and other shapes, you can also select an existing design and then the shape will be generated at each node point.

The example below is the same shape as above but instead of a grouping, the design has been combined using the pathfinder functionality and then duplicated giving the design a drop shadow

The same shape is again used but this time the path is offset by 10 px and then the pathfinder function intersects the original design and the offset

Additional example based on the above design but this time as an overlay

Example below shows a different shape selected (many different designs can be selected such as random ovals, stars, etc along with a pre-selected shape design

Example below shows a pre-selected shape. Only the first part of a compound shape is used so the letter 'A' is less useful than 'C'. The example below shows a C being used in the lattice. To use, simply select the shape and then set the shape dropdown in the plug-in to 'selected shape'. The shape's fill can be randomized etc and much more. You cannot select text but you can select paths and other shapes.

The example below uses a symbol as a selected shape and that means you can use the 'A' in the design (no compounds). Note the random angle feature, each symbol is randomly rotated. Obviously at a node point and as there maybe overlapping lines (as they move back and forward throughout the random design) you might end up with two or three symbols at a node and with a random angle applied to each, the 'A' in this design looks a little messy on each corner
