Christmas / Xmas Shapes

Christmas Xmas Shapes for Pages, Indesign, PaintShop Pro, Elements, Xpress and others

PDF Graphic shapes for Pages, Indesign, Illustrator etc included in set - Adobe Acrobat format

Beyond stunning Christmas designs that can be used in countless design projects - all the shapes are for royalty-free use, world-wide, no time limits, for commercial use so you can create your own creative commercial products with all the designs .. beyond that ? Well, each of the Christmas packs contain not just one shape, not just two shapes, not just 20 shapes but a lot more than that - all are vector designs for any size of document and artwork. They are stored in standard Adobe Acrobat PDF format (so most software can read them or use them - and if not, you can always find software to convert the Christmas vector shapes into PNG or JPG or TIFF or other formats).

Christmas shapes for use in many different software.

The Christmas shapes are all vector designs and can be used with small files as well as huge files (10000 x 10000 etc). Load the Christmas shapes in Photoshop via the "file menu" and "open command". The approach to the loading of the files in other software varies but in most cases the files are loaded via the "file menu" open command or import.

Opening Christmas shapes in PaintShop Pro

The vector shapes can also be used in many other applications such as PSP, Paint Shop Pro, PaintShop Photo Pro (it has had a few names over the years). The shapes are all accessible via the file menu and open command.

Some of the more recent sets have the designs in PDF documents that contain all the files and these are an issue for Paint Shop Pro. In those sets you will also find the same designs in EPS format and they can be opened via the file menu and open command.

On opening the EPS Christmas files you will have to set the resolution / size (so you can set the size to a huge document if you wish but if you do, psp might take a while to open the file)

Once opened, the eps file can be copied and pasted as a new layer in another document. Multiple pastes can be applied to create multiple Xmas shapes in the new document. The vector designs can be re-colored, modified, effects applied as well as merged with the existing document.

In the example below, a Christmas eps shape has been applied once with the default color, the second layer has been modified by the adjust / hue commands.

example above shows the hue command and adjustment in Paint Shop Pro.

The graphic shapes are also a great source for picture tubes in Paint Shop Pro. Go to the layer palette found via the view menu and then delete the background and any other raster layers and leave the shape as a single layer. Go to the "file menu" and "export command" and picture tube command and save the Christmas eps design as a tube.

The Xmas tube can then be applied via the picture tube tool. Added: December 29th 2011

Re-coloring Christmas shapes tutorial in Photoshop

The Christmas shapes can be re-colored so you can take the colorful trees or snow designs and modify the color. How you modify the color depends on the application.

The original Christmas tree shape is below

In Photoshop you can rasterize the design and then apply a standard paint brush.

You can also apply adjustment layers or apply layer effects to the design if you are using the shapes in Photoshop. Below is an example of the adjustment layer 'hue' added to the shape - the adjustment layer is added via the layer palette itself in Photoshop. The great thing about the adjustment layer is that the original design is still the same color and the adjustment layer can be removed at any point as well as changed at any point via the layer palette (double click on the icon in the layer palette)

example above shows an adjustments layer applied above the earlier PDF Christmas tree design

If you are using a vector application then you have many more options to modify the shape (such as in Illustrator)

You can, of course, simply just flatten the design and then use the image commands to adjust the color, perhaps turn the Christmas shape into a black and white design.

Tree design for Christmas Tree ties tutorial in Photoshop / Illustrator etc

You can use the designs to create stunning original fashion designs (whether you think a Christmas tree is the height of fashion is always debatable)

The Christmas design can be simply added to the bottom of the tie.

The Christmas design can also be used with a mask - so the design takes over the entire tie design

The Christmas tree designs can also be used as a swatch or pattern - how this is achieved in different application will of course vary. In Photoshop, use the design and select and edit menu and define pattern command; in Illustrator, just copy the design to the swatches palette and then apply it to the tie design

The Christmas tree designs can also be used as a brush stroke - again, this can vary in many different ways depending on the application. The Christmas brush designs can be applied to create a super colorful tie by selecting different color swatches in Photoshop (or PSP) and applying to the tie selection

The Christmas tree PDF shapes are vector designs so can be any size (so in the example above you can use a 2000 x 2000 size brush or a 2000 x 2000 size pattern tile for the Christmas tree design). Below - a different example showing three sizes of the Christmas shapes. The designs can be applied in a column or you can offset the designs as required.

multiple tree designs

You can, of course, also add the same designs three times; you can also add three different Christmas shape designs.
