Tutorial 1 Displacement map to Photoshop pattern Open a displacement map file, edit > define pattern command. The displacement map has now been stored in the patterns palette. The current files in the patterns palette can now be saved via the palette's save command to a PAT format library for future use. A good way to load all the displacement maps into the pattern palette is via an action. Note, loading all 100 into a single palette may slowdown startup of Photoshop. Use the layer > new pattern or layer effects or pattern stamp to apply the displacement map
Tutorial 2 Displacement map to frame Create a document, fill with black (or any color or gradient or pattern etc). Select an inner part of the document and fill with white. Contract the selection so some of the outer region now includes some black and white). Invert selection via select > inverse. Go to the filter > distort > glass filter and select a displacement map (via the texture option) and set the scaling, smoothness and distortion.
