Using the star graphic files in Apple Pages ® OS X tutorial

Use the choose option to insert the PDF (or EPS) design. As the designs are vectors, the zoom can be set to the maximum without any issues.

Once you have accessed the PDF, you can set graphic settings such as shadow, stroke (adding a frame etc), opacity via the 'inspector' (as well as metrics settings such as rotation and size).

You cannot change the color etc via the 'adjust image' - the PDF is not an image and though it displays the adjust image dialog, the sliders are not accessible with Pages (as of Pages 09).

The PDF is a useful way of adding vector designs to pages document as I have found that some font designs fail to export to PDF (via the export command), the PDF is a useful way around this issue (this export issue may be only for my pages application and you may have more joy with the export / printing of documents via PDF)

1) Open page document or file > new (or new from template chooser)

2) Insert menu >followed by choose

3) Select PDF file via the displayed insert 'finder'

4) Click insert

5) Set size via the size / edit mask dialog

6) Position design as required

Access star shapes in Paint Shop Pro® / PaintShop Photo Pro tutorial

1) File menu followed by Open star shapes

2) Enter resolution (300 DPI?)

3) Enter image type RGB

4) Bounding box

5) Click OK

6) Use image

Use the EPS files for PSP (unless you want to open all the PDF files in one go)

Star shapes / Illustrator symbols

You can use the star shape PDF designs as Illustrator symbols, Illustrator brushes, swatches and more. The PDF designs are an infinite resource toolkit of designs.

1) File menu followed by Open  (an error may occur on the opening of some of the files especially those with gradients, the files are not stored with editing capability. The error occurs with versions such as CS2 but not with Illustrator CS4)

2) Select star shapes PDF

3) Move and re-scale etc as required

Opening shape files in Serif PagePlus X2 (etc)

1) File menu and Open

The design is also modifiable (to a degree) and can be used as a layer etc Once opened in PagePlus, modify the color of the design via the color palette; modify the stroke via the line palette; modify the transparency via the transparency palette.

The design can also be warped via the warp tool; the design can be scaled and rotated and much more.

Fireworks and EPS star shapes tutorial

Some of the sets include (such as the pack 67) the star designs in EPS format - many of the most popular software such as Word, Photoshop, PSP should have no problems with eps files but with some software you will need to install Ghostscript onto your system.

Some software such as Fireworks cannot open PDF files but it can open EPS files.

1) file menu and open

2) set details as required

3) select shape

4) window menu and properties

5) select a filter from the properties palette such as adjust color command followed by hue etc

You can also turn the design into a symbol in Adobe Fireworks via the modify menu and symbol sub menu and convert to symbol menu command. As a (star) symbol, the instances can be re-applied over and over to create a colorful background in Fireworks

You can also apply filters to the instances perhaps to create a blurry star background field.
