Loading the Greek custom shapes into Photoshop

The Greek ornament custom shapes are loaded into Photoshop and Photoshop Elements via the custom shapes palette (displayed when you select the custom shapes tool as well as the cookie cutter tool in Photoshop Elements). Use the load / replace command at the side of the palette to load the custom shapes designs. Apply them by using the shapes tool.

Shadows to Greek ornament shapes

You can add a shadow to the Greek ornament custom shape quickly by applying the shape design as a layer and then going to the layer menu and selecting the layer style drop shadow

Another option, apply the shape design once with a dark color and then re-apply the same design slightly offset in a lighter color

You can then take this further by applying different darker shapes and then applying blurs and perhaps slanting the shape (if you apply the shape as a shape layer - you can transform the design to create a slightly more unusual shadow design)

Greek ornament shapes are vectors

The custom shapes are vector designs. You can apply the shapes to any size. They are not limited to a particular size like patterns or brushes and other elements of Photoshop.

You can apply the greek ornament custom shape as a very very small design or use 10000 x 10000 or whatever.

You can also manipulate the actual outline of the shape by using the various (albeit limited tools in Photoshop) pen tools such as the direct selection tool found in the toolbox

You can use the add points toolbox tool to add additional points to the Greek ornament shape (as well as any other shape) - you can then manipulate those points also to create ever more complex or distressed designs from a basic shape (as below)

You can also use the various pathfinder tools to add additional paths to the existing Greek shape or subtract from the shape - select the pathfinder tools via the top options bar in Photoshop

You could also achieve the same mottled shape effect by applying the shape as a fill and using white circles to cut away the shape - you also have the advantage of also adding color mottling to the shape as well
