Load the polygon / triangular brushes via the load brushes and replace brushes command in the brushes palette in Photoshop
example shows the brush tool selected in the Photoshop toolbox (same with Photoshop Elements). Set the color of the polygon brushes via the foreground color
example above shows the brush palette and the various dynamics, dual brush, noise, wet edge, airbrush etc settings for the brushes - use the palette to control all the aspects of the polygon / triangular brushes as well as save unique preset brushes.
Re-combine brushes and create unique Photoshop brush strokes tutorial You can always use the polygon brush dab to create a new brush dab with multiple dabs in a larger file and create a larger brush (the latest version of Photoshop allows for a much greater size of brush than the earlier versions).
The strokes can also be manipulated by effects and other tools and then defined as a new brush and saved to its own project library
1) New document 2) Select brush tool (press B) 3) Go to the brushes palette 4) Right side menu and use the load / replace library command to load a particular set of brushes (or use the pre-existing brushes) 5) Set the foreground color for the brush stroke via the Photoshop toolbox 6) Set the size of the brush via the brushes palette 7) Apply brush dab - be careful to keep within confines of current document (though you can always create brushes that extend beyond the sides of the image - great for abstract broken brushes) 8) Apply another dab - perhaps using same brush and same color but you don't have to (remember that the brushes are grayscale so if you use red and blue you won't see red or blue, just gray) 9) Apply effects such as blurs or some of the gallery effects or use perhaps some of the other brush tools to modify local parts of the brush design. 10) Apply more brush dabs if required 11) "edit menu" and "define brush"
Or even better, go to the 'brush presets' palette and set various settings for the scatter, texture, etc and then use the right side menu to define a new brush preset. The brush preset saves the new brush dab as well as all the other parts of the brush setting such as scatter.
12) save brushes in the same palette to save all the brushes in the palette
You can repeat this in countless ways to create a huge selection of Polygon (or hexagon or triangle or any other type of brush) brushes for use in many different projects.
Selections and the polygon brushes You can also define the polygon / triangle brush by using a selection and you can just select a particular part of a brush (using the square selection) or use the magic wand tool to select a continuous part of a brush stroke.
Select a small part of the brush via the lasso tool in Photoshop Or use the lasso tool to select a localized part of the brush design and then use the "edit menu" and "define brush command". Again, different selections can be used to create weird and wonderful combinations of the Polygon brushes (or any other).
