This is a small selection of custom shapes - the full set includes 12,000 custom shapes and many different designs
All the designs are vector shapes and can be used to any size. You can also export them and use them as Illustrator symbols. You can use them as a source for Photoshop brushes, Photoshop patterns and much more. This is the official page for the custom shapes collection of 12,000 custom shapes. The custom shapes are for commercial as well as personal work
Use the designs as layers, as fills, as paths, as web shapes, use in combo with Photoshop layer effects and much more. The custom shapes collection contains a vast range of different designs such as frames custom shapes, grids custom shapes, duplications, stars, letter shapes, 3D shapes, spirals and many more. The designs can be combined in millions of ways. The shapes can be used as a source for frame brushes, 3D brushes etc as well as pattern designs and more in Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The designs can also be exported to AI format or PNG etc format to be of use in other applications such as Paint Shop Pro
The custom shapes are all stored in multiple native CSH custom shapes files, you can easily use them via the file > open command in Photoshop or Photoshop Elements but if you add them to the presets custom shapes folder of Photoshop or elements you can then access them easily via the custom shapes palette menu. Select and use. Use to create your own designs as well and save as your own shapes libraries
You can use the designs to create part of a logo etc, use to create book illustrations, web designs, fashion designs, t-shirts, leaflets and many more. The designs are all for commercial as well as personal use so you can use the items to create items for sale and more

Many arrow custom shapes are included in the set inc. basic arrow designs or more elaborate ones. As with any custom shape fill design, to change the color, simply change the foreground color and then apply the shape. Many flower shapes are included and these can be further enhanced by using the shape design as a shape layer and then adding a style effect such as a gel or gradient; or you can also just combine other elements such as a circular design to the flower. Many different frame or stamp design custom shapes are included in the set. These can be combined in many ways, tweaked further by using the pen tools or transformations. The frames can be overlays or used in their own right. Many different grid design custom shapes are included in the set such as basic grids or rows and columns or embossed grid custom shapes. The shape designs can be combined in many different ways. As with all the shapes, the shapes are resolution-free so can be used to a huge or very small size. The collection also includes a selection of letter and number designs, it doesn't include all the letters but just some like W or L etc. Set includes scribbles and rough and distressed designs. Inset and contour designs are included in the set. These can be combined or warped or distorted in infinite ways. It is easy to add a drop shadow to the custom shape (in this case, a quick logo design). Simply apply the shape in black or a dark color and then slightly shift the mouse and re-apply the shape. A drop shadow can also be added via the more usual way of layer effects, apply the shape as a shape layer. Shapes can be applied once or repeatedly to a design. The shapes can be applied proportionally or as a simple instant click applied shape (like a custom shapes nozzle / paint brush). The shapes set includes many circular and splatter designs for hi-impact designs. Many weird and surreal shapes inc. retro designs are included in the collection. Set includes many zigzag designs (they can be very useful as brush designs). As well as letters, number custom shapes are included. The shapes can be applied as a path or fill layer or as below, a shape layer with a basic layer effect style applied. Many different heart custom shapes designs for use in Valentine's day designs are included in the collection
Saying all of that, there are many unique designs.. some really hard to classify. All these designs have been created over a period of time.

The shapes literally can be used in millions of different ways throughout Photoshop, the shapes are an amazing toolkit of creative possibilities.
Custom shapes are stored in native Photoshop format CSH files. The shapes files are loaded via the shapes tool / shapes palette and load / replace command or the preset manager
Combine custom shapes to create new shapes using the 'add to shape area' option for the custom shape layer. A single shape can be combined or multiple different shapes can be combined. Areas can also be subtracted / excluded etc to create a new shape. A single pack of shapes can be used to create millions of different and exciting designs.
Apply a custom shape as a 'fill pixels' option to one channel, apply a shape to another color channel, combining shapes across channels creating stunning RGB images.
Custom shapes can also be used in different color modes so instead of using the shape in RGB, use the shape in LAB, apply perhaps to the L (Lightness channel) etc. The custom shapes can also be used in duotone and tritone color modes and more
Custom shapes can be applied as a path (via the shapes options), use the 'export paths to illustrator' to save the path as AI native Illustrator format file. Use this file in multiple applications. Great as a source for Illustrator symbols
The custom shape can be used as a shape layer, shape layers can have a style applied such as metallic or blue gel creating stunning metal / gel designs and more. Shape layers can also be transformed, distorted, slanted, scaled, rotated and much more. The transform path > warp can be used to warp a custom shape into an arc shape / twirled shape and more. Modify the applied style via the layer effects menu
Custom shapes can be created as path. The path can be converted into a selection via the paths palette. The selection can then be transformed, filled, used as a selection for effects etc
The shapes can be used simply to fill a region with a design. The fill region can be applied to a layer and then layer effects such as drop shadows can be applied to the fill shape. The fill shape can have effects applied and much
The shapes work fine in Photoshop CS4 and with the new filter features / layer effects combinations, even more amazing designs can be created with the shapes
Shapes can be applied to a path with 100% opacity, you can use the shape as an overlay with say 50% opacity. This also means the shapes can be used as a watermark over an image
Shapes can be applied with a different blending mode from normal. Apply the shape in difference blending mode or darken. The shapes can be applied repeatedly. The shape can also be faded after applying via the edit > fade command, changing the apply opacity and blending mode.
Create a new document, select the shape tool and set to fill or shape layer and then apply the shape with the layer scaling / size / color. Re-apply to build up an interesting brush design. Use the edit menu define brush to create a new brush from the shapes. Paint.
The shape can have a stroke (such as black or green stroke) via the shapes layer / layer effects menu 'stroke'. The stroke can be a single color or a gradient or pattern. Different shapes can have different strokes.
You can use the full shape or you can remove the rest of the shape and use only a fragment. This can be done via the direct selection tool or using the pathfinder exclude / subtract tools.
The shape can be used as is but the shape can also be modified as mentioned by the warp and slant and perspective but individual points of the path can be modified and pulled in or out and angled to totally change a shape by using the direct selection tool as well as the add point and convert tools.
Shapes can be combined with text. The text needs to be converted to a shape layer and then additional shapes can be added to the text via the pathfinder options to add to the shape layer or exclude or subtract.
Shapes can be blurred, stain glass filter applied, distorted, lens flare plug-in, all can be applied to a shape, either a shape layer, selection or fill. The shape layer needs to be rasterized before it can be blurred (sharpened isn't perhaps as useful for a vector)
The shape blur filter can use the shapes as source for a blur effect using different radii. The result can be more or less successful depending on the shape selected. The shapes appear in the standard shapes palette. Lower settings seem to be best but depends on the file.
The shapes are displayed via the shapes palette. The shapes palette can hold a large range (though not every shape created on graphicxtras) as shape thumbnails. To use a shape, simply select. The shapes palette can also be added to via the standard file-> open command as well in later versions of Photoshop and Elements
Open a new document, apply a shape as a fill or shape layer, flatten, and then use the define pattern to save the shape as a pattern. The pattern shape then can be used in fills / paint bucket / layer effects / textures for brushes and more

Apply the shape in quick mask mode to create a quick selection
Use the shapes to create a frame / masks, the easiest way to do this is to use the shapes in the path mode and then turn (via the paths panel) into a selection. Or if you have Photoshop Elements, just use the cookie cutter tool
Use the shapes in animations. Add shapes, the same or different shapes, transform the shapes, perhaps shrinking or rotating the shapes and apply them across new layers. Go to the animation palette and use the 'create frames from layers' command to create a basic animated film from a set of custom shapes. Export to GIF or even SWF
The custom shapes can be used with the cookie cutter tool in Photoshop Elements. Use to create stunning scrapbook designs. The shapes for the shapes tool and the cookie cutter tool are the same. The cookie cutter tool offers a number of features such as feather, skew, scale, rotate etc the custom shape as well as crop the document to the current shape.
The shapes can be used to create packaging, used to create fashions, use on t-shirts, use on cards, rubber stamps and much more
Save the custom shape drawing as an action to re-apply the design at a later time.
Use the custom shapes in scripts (via listener plugin) to create scripts that can use any shape or design to create backgrounds/borders etc
Shapes can be used in 1000s of ways. Use in leaflets, books, illustrations, designs, as layers, as fills, use in web designs, in scrap booking, use in rubber stamps, use in fashion designs, use in tattoos, use on t-shirts, use on surf boards, use as frames, use as overlays and much more.
The shapes are vector designs so can be used to any size, use them to 5000 x 5000 etc or use them at 2 x 2. This makes them very useful for creating resources such as brushes or patterns as mentioned above.
The collection set is a combination of 21 earlier shapes packs. The current shapes packs on the graphicxtras.com web site are not the same as the collection. If you purchase this shapes collection, you are not getting all the shapes on the site but you are getting 12,000 stunning designs along with bonus gradients and more. A complete shapes set of the collection and all the shapes packs is available via the bundle section
The easiest approach is just to use the file > open command as you would a JPG or GIF or PNG file. The files are then loaded into the current shapes palette (up to the limit allowed)
Custom shapes are stored in CSH files (note, there is a browser available for CSH files on the PC platform, a preset browser tool from Tumasoft.com)
For Photoshop® and Photoshop® Elements, the custom shapes files can be placed in the ... presets/custom shapes folders of the host application. Photoshop can also load / replace custom shapes from other folders.
With Vista and OS X, you might prefer to store the custom shapes files in the appdata / roaming (PC) folders for Photoshop etc or the library / applicationsupport folders on OS X. Then you don't have to concern yourself with permissions to copy files etc as they are then stored in your user account section. Please check your documentation or the web for the exact location
If the shapes are located in the custom shapes folder designated by Photoshop, they will appear in the dropdown list of the custom shapes palette. select the shape file from that list and the shapes will be added to the custom shapes panel for use in Photoshop. If the shapes files are not located in the designated shapes folder then they can also be accessed via the custom shapes dropdown menu using the load or replace command (and browse to the folder storing the shapes)
Custom shapes are all accessed via the custom shapes tool and shapes palette (though they can also be accessed via the shape blur plugin)
If you wish the item to appear in the Artworks and Effects palette (of Photoshop Elements 5) then goto to the 'Documents and settings' folder and 'all users' 'application data' 'adobe' 'photoshop elements' 5.0 'Photo Creations' 'Artwork' 'shapes' and create a sub folder marked 'graphicxtras' (say) and then add the CSH shapes files to that, the shapes will then appear in the 'graphicxtras' category Decorate with frames.. shapes section. You can add different categories as required. Note, on re-starting Photoshop Elements, the artwork cache will be re-built. The location for the shapes folder may vary, as I have yet to check out the equivalent on windowsVista.
