Patterns can also be used in the apply surface texture command (again, use the original luminance method). Changing the angle of light etc and pattern size and designs allows 1000s of amazing designs even from a basic pattern

 

 

To access the patterns, simply access them via the pattern palette in Painter. Load the PTL library, move patterns, re-size patterns and more
