Set the displacement settings to extreme settings and then apply the displacement map / distortion.
Another way to use the displacement map to create abstract designs would be to select a part of the displacement map and then save that as a new 'displacement map' file and use that instead in the displace or glass distortion filter and though it will lost the tiling, it might be a great source for some truly odd designs. How to use displacement maps with text ?Use the PSD files to create stunning distortions of text, either apply the distortion / displacement to a single letter or single word or whole pages of text.
