  1. Select curvature tool in the toolbar of Illustrator

  2. Double click document / artboard to start path

  3. Move to a different position - up and across and double click again to create another corner point

  4. Move further along and down (in a zigzag) and double click again

  5. Repeat for as many points you want to add to your line

  6. Go over all the points added and double click them to turn them into smooth points / curved points (though avoid clicking the end points unless you want a closed path) to create a wavy line in Illustrator

In the image on the right, you can see the basic initial zigzag created by the double clicking and then the converted wavy line is below
