How to use the powerful Affinity Photo median blur filter. The median blur can create all kinds of amazing blurring effects via the filter menu. You can use the median blur with selections, macros, channels and more to create all kinds of wonderful art
1. Where is the median blur filter in Affinity Photo
The median blur filter effect for Affinity Photo can be found in the Affinity Photo's blur category of the filter menu. Note that is a destructive effect.
2. Median blur settings for Affinity Photo
The median blur is great with low values for noise, it is also great for color blurs and edges. To use the Median blur goto the Filters menu and Blurs and Median blur and Set radius and Apply
You can apply a subtle radius for the median blur as well
3. Repeat the median blur
You can use the median blur more than once. If you want to repeat the effect, set the radius to a reasonable value and then repeat.
You can apply the repeat over and over to create all kinds of unusual blurring effects
4. Fade the median blur filter
You can fade the median blur filter effect via the layer menu and fade and set a different blending mode as well as opacity
5. Macro combinations for the Median Blur filter
The median blur filter can be used with other filters, you can combine it with other effects via the macro panel. Find the macro panel via the view menu and studio. Start recording the median blur as well as combining with other filters such as deform etc

Go to the panel and select the red and then go to the filters menu and apply the median blur with a setting, repeat this for the green but use a different setting

You can also use the median blur filter with selections, all kinds of different selections. You can use any number of selection tools to add the selections and the median blur can be applied to those or the inverted or feathered etc

You can create a layer, a new design or perhaps a duplication of the image and scaled and then apply the median blur filter to that.

You can use the filter effect with the text as a layer and create some very rough distorted text in seconds. You can also flatten the text with another layer and use the filter on that and the result will be different
11. Pattern layers
The effect can also be used with the powerful pattern layer from selection. Apply the effect to the image and then go to the layer menu and pattern layer from selection command and you can then re-size the layer with the blurred effect as well as rotate and you can also set the mirror option to On and create amazing seamless tiles with the blur effect.
